With Spring Hill’s Mommy & Me for Toddlers you will …
Have fun with your child exploring a wide range of enriching, hands-on activities.
Explore a Montessori classroom and benefit from the guidance of an experienced Montessori teacher.
Discover how to transfer many of the learning activities to your home.
Learn about child development and educational principles that can help both you and your child make the most of the precious, but sometimes challenging, toddler years.
Designed for children ages 18 to 36 months with a parent or caregiver, each Mommy & Me session meets for a 1 hour condensed Montessori class. During that time, your child will be free to explore age-appropriate Montessori materials, making his or her own choices from the classroom shelves and work at his or her own pace in a carefully prepared environment and in a peaceful setting with the guidance of a Montessori teacher and you. These materials encourage the development of a toddler’s independence, concentration, confidence, fine motor skills, respect for others, and a love of learning. You will join other parents and children for snack (provided), hear stories, work on an art project, and play together. This “mini” Montessori class mimics our Toddler class schedule, including circle time, work period, group snack, and play time.
Our program helps children tap into their natural excitement for learning. A beautifully prepared environment and inviting sensory materials draw children into creative discovery. Children are encouraged to seek out activities of their own interest and to engage with these activities for as long as they need. This gives the children the opportunity to remain focused on their projects and explore the possibilities with joy. Our teachers offer guidance and assistance when it is needed with care and love. Toddlers ask us to “Help me do it myself!” We build upon each child’s natural inclination toward independence. Hanging up their coats, taking out and putting away materials, and cleaning up are the beginning of confidence, self-discipline, and respect for others. Toddlers gain an early sense of discovery and security. This helps provide a strong, fertile foundation for a lifetime of learning. It also gives them the trust that adults, including teachers and parents, are always available if they need help and care.
Mommy & Me for Toddlers at Spring Hill Montessori gives you an opportunity to learn about the Montessori philosophy and method of teaching. This is an opportunity to witness first-hand your child’s early learning Montessori classroom experience while enjoying a special experience with your child.
