Our bilingual Toddler program has a full-time native Spanish speaking teacher and a full-time English speaking teacher in the classroom. The program includes daily art projects, music, story time, care of class animals, gardening and more.
The Toddler program is designed to provide a warm, secure, and exciting environment for the very young child, for whom this is often the first experience away from home. Our teachers offer the caring support that gives children the freedom and confidence to try new things and test their own limits. The classroom offers a stimulating and comfortable place for the toddler to explore the world. This prepared and ideal environment offers much more than daycare: It provides the ultimate environment to make the most of this irreplaceable period of time.
Our focus is on the whole child, nurturing the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development through classroom activities and interactions. Respect for themselves, each other, their teachers, the environment and materials, and classroom pets is modeled by our Toddler teachers at all times.
Classroom activities, through “play with purpose,” focus on:
- development of fine motor skills
- development of gross motor skills
- intellectual curiosity
- language development
- confidence building
- social and emotional maturity
During these most formative years, we help children tap into their natural excitement for learning. Nurturing teachers help make this first transition away from home a positive experience. A beautifully prepared environment and inviting sensory materials draw children into creative discovery. They are able to be focused on their projects because teachers don’t hover or interrupt, but offer assistance only when it is needed. This is the beginning of the development of concentration skills; these are habits that children begin to integrate and carry with them as their education progresses.
This is the age of “Help me do it myself!” and we build upon each child’s natural inclination toward independence. Hanging up their coats, taking out and putting away materials, and cleaning up are all a part of their days – and the beginning of confidence, self-discipline, and respect for others. Spring Hill toddlers gain an early sense of discovery and security. This helps provide a strong, fertile foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Parents are important in our Toddler program, and families enjoy monthly family weekend outings and hikes, providing opportunities for our toddlers to explore and experience a variety of activities and socializing for families.
